I got to choose this months theme shoes. When I chose this theme I thought it would be fun and light hearted. But then as the weeks went by and I was observing all the shoes in my house the challenge took a surprising turn.
This first image was my favorite. I love everything about this image the texture, the shades the content. These are my teenage daughters shoes. When I look at these shoes I see the scuff marks and dirt but I also see all the things ahead of her and how all those scuffs and dirt are going shape her into an wonderfully amazing woman.
The shoes below belong to my oldest son. He is very rarely here anymore. His life is consumed with work, friends, girlfriends all the things that a 20 year old does. When he is home we cherish every moment. I miss his company but watching him change into this amazing adult is very inspiring.
These shoes belong to my youngest. These are his new light up shoes. He loves them so much her turns the lights off to conserve the batteries. He had been complaining about his toes hurting so off to get new shoes 2 1/2 sizes bigger. I felt so bad one of those mommy guilt moments.
By looking at their shoes it has reminded me how many moments we let just go by with out taking notice. I don't think I have ever really studied my kids shoes before but I plan on not staying so "busy" any more. These are the things I want to remember their little shoes (and not so little shoes) and how they change with how they grow. I wear chucks blue with hot pink laces and I will probably be 80 wearing my chucks.
Now go over to Sarah another wonderful photographer and see what she has done with our Shoe theme.
