Where should I begin with this couple? Spring is a long time friend from back when I worked at Nortel 13 years ago Once I left Nortel we went separate ways. But for the past few years our friendship has found its way back. And I am so thankful because she have been a voice of reason for me, an amazing role model, and helped me find courage that I never knew I had. I feel like a little kid when we are together and I am sure the people around us would agree. She is also an amazing artist.
She is my partner in crime. We set out to drive aimlessly and take pictures and always find some interesting and crazy stuff. We will soon be driving to San Antonio together and there is no telling what trouble we will get into. We may need someone to come bail us out for trespassing into an abandon building.
I wanted to do something special for her so I asked if I could photograph her and her husband but the catch was that I was going to ask them a series of questions during the session. I wanted to capture their fun loving spirit and the loving relationship that they have. One of the questions that I asked was does one of you have a hidden talent? I already knew from Spring that Sam could juggle so I surprised them with some juggling balls.
We all have to be adults but sometimes it is nice to let that inner child out to play. I would love to capture your inner child. Click the link to book your session.

I love to have family come and stay with us. It can be exhausting and sometimes you need a vacation after it is all said and done.
But the memories that have been made and the lessons that have been learned are priceless. My son had to learn to share and for a 6 year old that can be very hard. He also had to learn to change his routine a little. And this mamma had to have a lot of patience with a little one that was up too late and up too early.
I will remember the late night conversations, the toys everywhere and the movies and flower arranging in Nana's backyard. And the time that I got to spend with my aunt learning all the things about her that I never knew. I am so thankful for our time together and I can't wait till we do it again.
Family time is all to often cluttered with things of the past and allowing the everyday things to get in the way. There are so many things in our life that Life is too short not to enjoy your family.
I would love to document your family time. Those small precious moments that happen when ours lives are so busy. Let me have a couple hours of your time to slow down and feel the grass on your feet the sun on your face. Be in the space of your family and nothing else. These are the moments that you will remember forever. I would love to capture those forever moments for you. Let's get your family time booked.

Taking my son to the grocery store is a feat. I think he gets sensory overload. Yes, I am the parent whose kid is running around trying to be helpful but all over the place and going back for as many free cookies as he can get. Or maybe it is because when my husband takes him shopping they play hide-n-seek. I am just waiting from them to get banned from the supermarket.
When my aunt came to visit and a trip to the grocery store was a must (I have no food in my house I am not a great cook. We eat a lot of sandwiches). She was kind enough to make us spaghetti and meatballs and not the frozen kind! But I think by the time we got done with our 45 minute trip she was ready to go and hide.
The only camera I had was my phone so these are a little out of focus here and there but I figure isn't life that same way? This is a moment of chaos and crazy that to me was just beautiful and fun. I am pretty sure the other shoppers didn't feel the same way or the worker that had to get a ladder to get my son's flying lion from the top of a shelf. But I saw cousins getting to know each other and kids being silly and fun.
My child is the one with no shoes.
Thank you aunt Carolyn for enduring the madness at my house and I hope we didn't scare you away.

The sea turtle loving family is back and we had a blast! Little John-Mark just wanted his pictures taken on his terms so we just went with it. This little guy just learned to walk so of course he was on the go! I would sit them on the blanket and he would move to the grass so DJ and Anastasia moved to the grass and then John-Mark moved to the blanket. John-Mark has an awesome personality.
They are such a loving and fun family. They make my job so easy. More plans are in the works to capture John-Mark in his own environment at his own pace. I wonder what this little one has in store for us? Whatever it is it is going to be an adventure! Leave this awesome family some love below.
Oh and don't forget to go and take a look at Sea Turtle rescue group Sea Turtle Inc. This is something very dear to DJ and Anastasia. Sea Turtle Inc. is currently doing a fund raiser to build a new education center. Please take a few minutes and visit http://www.seaturtleinc.org/ and check out what the sea turtles are doing.

For July the them is back-lighting. I started off searching for that type of lighting and I couldn't find anything that I just loved. But then I realized that I just needed to let go and be aware of what was around me. No more searching just looking. And here is what I found nothing but beautiful light and amazing kids. All because I just let it be and embraced what was happening around me.
Please take the time to go around our circle and look at all the amazing work. You can start here with Paola
This one is more side lighting but I absolutely love it.
